Cub Scout Pack 46

The Webelos den will open a new world of adventure for your son: a way to learn new skills, to enjoy lots of outdoor activities, and most of all, to have fun! 

Your son will be joining the part of the Cub Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America that is for fourth and fifth grade boys.  Webelos Scouts are older than boys in the Tiger Cub, Wolf Cub Scout, and Bear Cub Scout levels of Cub Scouting.

A Cub Scout who is in the 5th grade spends the last six months working toward the highest award Cub Scouting offers, The Arrow of Light.  Typically in February, 2nd year Webelos graduate from the Pack and join a local Boy Scout troop.  The requirements for the Arrow of Light help to prepare a young man to join Boy Scouting.

1.  Be active in your Webelos Den for at least six months since completing the fourth grade and earn the Webelos Badge.
2.  Show your knowledge of the requirements to become a Boy Scout by doing the following:
                  Repeat from memory and explain the Boy Scout Oath & Law.
                  Tell how you practice them in your everyday life.
                  Give and explain the Boy Scout motto, slogan, sign, salute and handshake.
                  Understand the significance of the First Class Scout badge.
                  Tell how a Boy Scout uniform is different from a Webelos uniform.
                  Tie the Joining Knot (Square Knot)
3.  Earn 5 additional Activity Badges.
4.  With your Webelos den, visit a Boy Scout Troop meeting and a Boy Scout oriented outdoor activity.
5.  Participate in a Webelos overnight campout or day hike.
6.  Arrange to visit with your parent/guardian a meeting of a Boy Scout troop you think you might like to join.  Have a conference with the Scoutmaster.
7.  Complete the Honesty Character connection.

The Webelos II Den meets on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at the Phelps Fire Hall, Ontario Street, Phelps, NY.
